Looking for a Kelowna date idea that is a little different from dinner and a movie? Why not take your date somewhere you can wander among kangaroos, meet a capybara, hold a sugar glider and maybe get a few memorable photos together? Kangaroo Creek Farm offers a fun, relaxed and definitely unconventional date experience in Kelowna. Located at 5932 Old Vernon Road, near the north end of Kelowna International Airport, Kangaroo Creek Farm is home to a variety of exotic and domestic animals. Of course, the stars of the show are the kangaroos and wallabies. The farm has four species of macropods, including Red Kangaroos, Common Wallaroos, Bennett Wallabies and Dama Wallabies. One of the best things about taking a date here is that you aren’t simply walking around looking at animals from a distance. Visitors can wander among the kangaroos, approach them, pet them and feed them treats provided free by the farm’s knowledgeable guides. Staff are also available to answer questions and help visitors interact with some of the animals. And there is plenty to see beyond the kangaroos. Depending on what is available during your visit, you can check out capybaras, goats, parrots, peacocks, emus, pot-bellied pigs, tortoises, reptiles and the farm’s African crested porcupine. The farm also has sugar gliders, and guides may help visitors hold and pet them. Joey encounters may also be available. Importantly, the farm says there is no additional charge for treats, petting a joey, holding a sugar glider or holding the parrots. Fall is a great time for a date Fall can be an especially nice time to visit because the farm moves into its low-season schedule and admission prices drop. From September 8 through September 30, 2026, the farm is open daily from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. In October, it is open Saturdays, Sundays and Thanksgiving Monday only, also from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The final day of the 2026 season is Monday, October 12. Fall admission is $20 for adults and youth ages 16–64, $10 for children ages 5–15, $10 for seniors 65+, and free for children four and under. The farm accepts cash, debit, Visa and MasterCard. For a date, consider arriving when the farm opens. The farm recommends visiting early for a quieter experience, noting that the animals tend to be most lively and eager for their treats in the morning. Weekends and holidays can be busier, so a weekday morning in September may be ideal if your schedules allow. Keep in mind that this is a real farm, not a polished indoor attraction. The paths include gravel, dirt and grass, so comfortable shoes are a good idea. Come prepared to spend time outdoors and, most importantly, follow the farm’s rules for interacting respectfully with the animals. If you’re looking for a date that gives you something to talk about, plenty of opportunities for laughs and a chance to create some unusual memories together, Kangaroo Creek Farm is definitely worth considering. After all, it’s not every day that your date involves kangaroos! Post navigation The Terry Fox Run Makes the Perfect Kelowna Date Have a Scary Date in a Haunted Corn Maze in Vernon
